Last week has been the dirtiest week in the history of Indian Politics. Political parties switching their loyalties, MPs switching sides, allegations of bribery and a lot more. The picture says it all. Happy faces and Sad faces. Finally, after all commotion in parliament, the Manmohan Singh govt. lives on after winning the trust vote by a margin of 19. I am not here to comment on the win or loss of the UPA.
‘Are Indian Politicians and Politics for Sale?’ That is the question I have. The entire episode was just like a Bollywood movie. There was strong, emotional, angry dialogues from each party member, there were quite a number of twists in the story with realignment of parties and comedy provided by Lalu Prasadji in his speech in the parliament. When finally everyone thought there would be a peaceful climax, out come 3 MPs who allege that they have been bribed.
Irrespective of their allegations being right or wrong, there arises quite a number of questions. If they are right, why did the 3 MPs accept cash in the first place? Why didn’t they report it to police or senior party officials earlier? If their allegations are wrong, then was it a trick from their party to somehow stop the trust vote knowing that the UPA might win it? Who masterminded this dirty plan?
The entire episode reveals the Political mafia in Indian Politics whose very foundation is money and corruption. 22-07-2008 is a dark day in Indian Politics.
The trust vote was converted into just a game which either side wanted to win at all costs. And the UPA did win. But the day will be remembered in history not for UPA’s win but for the day Democracy was killed.

Last week saw the debut of two actors – Imran Khan with Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Naa and Harman Baweja with Love Story 2050.
To be honest, when I first saw the trailers of Jaane Tu, I didn’t think it had the goods for a hit movie. The promos and guest appearances on TV shows proved Imran is capable of acting. When I went to watch the movie, I went with least expectations. When the movie began unfolding, I was astounded at the personality of Imran. The confidence with which he delivers the dialogues, his body language and his chemistry with the female lead is so good that I haven’t seen such a performance from any debut actor so far. Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Naa is a good movie with intelligent comedy and a near to perfect cast. It is such a refreshing movie. It is a light hearted love story.
I also happened to watch Love Story 2050. I have to admit that I, for one, was putting my money on this movie. Harman was on a movie signing spree even before his first release which lead me to the above conclusion. This movie proved me wrong again. The movie is very average stuff with amateurish performance from Harman Baweja and the rest of the cast. Harman fails with connect to the audience. His body language is different from the tone of his voice. He lacks the confidence and he was trying to be Hrithik’s clone that he forgets to act. Love Story 2050 is so much a graphical work piece that if the script were half as good, then the movie would have been a hit.
What sets apart both the debutantes is their screen presence. Imran has impeccable screen presence whereas Harman has very little. Imran has charisma all around him. Imran wins over Harman big time in the race to be ‘The Next Big Thing in Bollywood.’
Dasavatharam is a movie which has received mixed reviews sincce its release. many people told me that the movie was a waste. But personally I liked the movie. Kamal Hassan was at his best. I liked the movie so much because the screenplay is brilliant and the technical and graphical perfection is peerless. I liked the wasy in which Kamal Hassan weaves the chaos theory and butterfly effect into the story and how different roles of himself help Govind escape from cops and the villain Fletzer.
I happened to come accross the pictures of each charecter and so I modified it a bit and am sharing it here.

First of all, Welcome to my blog. I am starting this blog with 100% knowledge that I have 0 readers. Normally, I have a lot of things to say but people have no time to listen to it. So, here I go talking and sharing my opinions on almost everything under the sun.
Today is an unforgettable day mainly due to 2 reasons. One is I have my own blog. The second is I lost my mobile phone. I was in HDFC bank writing out a leaf for a cash deposit. The a/c details were on my mobile and so I kept it on the table while filling it out. I took my eyes off the phone for a moment as I was counting the cash and writing down denominations. And when I looked back, Lo! Behold. My phone was missing. I tried to dial to my number but it appears the thief had switched off my phone. So thus I lost my mobile phone. I got the old SIM blocked and got myself a duplicate of the old one but everytime I get a call, I feel sad and miss my phone very much
.
Everything aside, I am happy to start my blog and this is where I will be dumping all my thoughts, opinions, frustrations and so on.
