This is the scene outside one of Kollam’s biggest theaters. For those who don’t follow Malayalam, the board reads – “Due to faulty compressor, the AC doesn’t work today”. I am not talking about the air conditoner alone. The broken seats, the bug ridden seat handles, the dingy smell and in some theaters, I have seen cats waling between rows of seats.

With more than 75% films releasing a year turning out to be duds, we are in a time when family audience are staying out of theaters, waiting for the movie verdict and then opting to wait till the movie comes out in DVD. When Malayalam cinema is in such a mess, shouldn’t the exhibitors do better than this? After all, they raise the ticket charge every year.

‘All The Best’ is a Bollywood film starring Sanjay Dutt, Ajay Devgan, Fardeen Khan, Bipasha Basu and Mugdha Godse. The movie is produced by Ajay Devgan and directed by Rohit Shetty. Pritam scores the music. Like all Rohit Shetty films, Att The Best also has over the top songs, great music, fantastic action sequences and loads of comedy.  Coming from the success of Golmaal Returns, Rohit Shetty presents a feast of action and comedy. The movie is set to release this Diwali.

The trailer itself is very exciting and colorfull. Hope this movie does well at the box office.

Not many people would shy away from an opportunity for 15 seconds of fame. I am not going to discuss whether what has happened was right or not. But, I would like to share my thoughts on why I think this is not a publicity stunt.

Does Shah Rukh Khan need publicity? Hell Yeah! He does. But let’s get the matters straight. SRK is a big enough star to be in the news withot having to be the ‘Drama King‘. SRK has been in the news always, be it for the battle of the Khans or for his IPL team Knight Riders. SRK is someone who cannot stay away from the headlines even if he wants to. So why does he want publicity in a matter like this dealing with discrimination based on religion?

The first answer that would come to your mind would be his forthcoming movie ‘My Name Is Khan’. The movie is said to have a theme revolving around religious discrimination post 9/11. But ‘My Name Is Khan’ is set to release some good 6 months later. That is not all. If people didn’t notice, ‘My Name Is Khan’ is in the news for its 100 crore deal with Fox Star. If SRK needed publicity, he could well have used this, rather than go all the way to US to stir up this controversy.

After the ordeal, SRK could have easily called up a press conference and he could have give all the spicy details directly to the media. But that was not what happened. And one more thing, we are talking about the US Immigration and not Indian. Shah Rukh being who he is, wouldn’t be able to buy off US officials even he wanted to. No disregards.

It is not a secret that SRK has been close to the Congress camp and we also know that Big B is Amar Singh’s bade bhaiyya. Congress and the Samajwadi party don’t share the best of relations at present. So was Amar Singh’s publicity stunt allegation on SRK made on a political platform or is it something in Bollywood beyond politics. Was this an opportunity used to attach the word ‘controversy‘ to Shah Rukh’s name?

After all these events one wonders whether Bollywood is being used as a political playground???

Was SRK's US ordeal a publicity gimmick??
