First of all, let me make it clear that I neither hate Union Health Minister, Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss nor do I like him.

Today from one of the leading Tamil cinema portals, I came to know that all films containing smoking scenes will be find as the shooting spot is a public place as many people like the director, light boys, actors, actress etc gather there. For quite some time now, he has been having regular tussles with many doctors in AIIMS and film personalities.

Personally, I do have a problem if someone is smoking in the same room as I am. I can even say that I was happy to an extent when smoking at public places was made punishable. But I don’t like his manner of asserting authorities over things that he is not involved in.

The first time I noted the name Anbumani Ramadoss was when he asked SRK not to smoke in movies which led to a wide debate. Following this he has mentioned many other actors’ names in his interviews.

What really pisses me off is the manner in which he is trying to assert his authority. It is one thing to do it out of concern, but doing it to show one’s power is ugly. Being a regular movie follower, I feel that in certain films some qualities of certain characters (mainly villains) can be expressed in a much better way by using a smoking shot. In such instances, the smoking scene is a director’s creative liberty. Usually, smoking shots are used to show how a character responds under stress.

What the respected health minister is trying to do in such instances is interfere in the working space of artists. Earlier, smoking scenes were allowed in movies, if they carried a warning “Smoking Is Injurious To Health” at the bottom of the screen. That was an acceptable demand. But to totally ban smoking from movies is absolute bullshit.

In short, the health minister is giving huge negative publicity (which works much better) for cigarettes. It is high time he learnt that the human brain cannot process negative instruction.

I would love to hear what you have to say about this topic.

Dance To A Slimmer Physique

0

It is a very common situation that people with a few extra pounds would like to shed it off, but they hate working out or have no time for gym. For such people, including myself, there is an enjoyable solution.

Dancing is as good an exercise for the body as running, jogging, aerobics, swimming etc. Dancing is good for the heart and it improves blood circulation in the body. I remember watching a feature in AXN (some 2-3 years back) on 10 Most Enjoyable Means To Shed Weight. Dancing was 2nd or 3rd on the list.

Advantages

  • Dancing strengthens your bones and tones your muscles properly.
  • Dancing improves blood flow and hence increases the oxygen supply to cells.
  • Dancing improves your flexibility.
  • Dancing helps in reducing cholesterol.

Tips To Remember

  1. Before starting to dance, do a warm up routine with a few stretches. This helps in the loosening up of muscles.
  2. Dance at the pace at which you feel comfortable. Don’t dance too fast as you may end up pulling your muscle.
  3. If you feel out of breath, relax for a few minutes before continuing.
  4. Start this routine with a duration of 10 minutes and gradually increase it day by day.

Caution: This is only for those people who enjoy dancing. If you have never tried out dancing, then try it out once. If you hate dancing, then this is not for you.

Golden Rule: Never force yourself into anything you are not comfortable with.

So let’s kick this off at this New Year’s party & have a blast!

Shah Rukh Khan started this mania. It spread to the south and many of the south lead actors have got six packs. But, every one of them got it with a lot of talk and hype. Their new avatar came at the cost of their looks. Most actor’s faces have shrunk around the jaw area. Examples are Surya, Vishal from Kollywood and Prithviraj from Mollywood. But there is someone who has got six packs with no hype at all and he looks the best of the lot. He is Mr. Perfectionist Aamir Khan himself.
