I was browsing through IndiaFM, when I saw a remark from the editor about the promo of the movie Kidnap. The movie stars Sanjay Dutt, Imran Khan and Minnisha Lamba. It is directed by Sanjay Gadhvi (of Dhoom series) and produced by Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision (makers of Jab We Met). I searched YouTube immediately and I found the video there.
The video is stunning. Sanjay Dutt looks slick in expensive suits. Imran Khan looks fantastic as the villain and Minnisha Lamba is gorgeous. The trailer is stylish and fast paced. I can’t explain in words how fantastic it looks. Imran is yet again doing a strong and unconventional role for a new comer. This is one of those rare almost perfect trailers which make you want more of it. Have a look yourself.
Last week saw the debut of two actors – Imran Khan with Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Naa and Harman Baweja with Love Story 2050.
To be honest, when I first saw the trailers of Jaane Tu, I didn’t think it had the goods for a hit movie. The promos and guest appearances on TV shows proved Imran is capable of acting. When I went to watch the movie, I went with least expectations. When the movie began unfolding, I was astounded at the personality of Imran. The confidence with which he delivers the dialogues, his body language and his chemistry with the female lead is so good that I haven’t seen such a performance from any debut actor so far. Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Naa is a good movie with intelligent comedy and a near to perfect cast. It is such a refreshing movie. It is a light hearted love story.
I also happened to watch Love Story 2050. I have to admit that I, for one, was putting my money on this movie. Harman was on a movie signing spree even before his first release which lead me to the above conclusion. This movie proved me wrong again. The movie is very average stuff with amateurish performance from Harman Baweja and the rest of the cast. Harman fails with connect to the audience. His body language is different from the tone of his voice. He lacks the confidence and he was trying to be Hrithik’s clone that he forgets to act. Love Story 2050 is so much a graphical work piece that if the script were half as good, then the movie would have been a hit.
What sets apart both the debutantes is their screen presence. Imran has impeccable screen presence whereas Harman has very little. Imran has charisma all around him. Imran wins over Harman big time in the race to be ‘The Next Big Thing in Bollywood.’
