It is a very common situation that people with a few extra pounds would like to shed it off, but they hate working out or have no time for gym. For such people, including myself, there is an enjoyable solution.
Dancing is as good an exercise for the body as running, jogging, aerobics, swimming etc. Dancing is good for the heart and it improves blood circulation in the body. I remember watching a feature in AXN (some 2-3 years back) on 10 Most Enjoyable Means To Shed Weight. Dancing was 2nd or 3rd on the list.
Advantages
- Dancing strengthens your bones and tones your muscles properly.
- Dancing improves blood flow and hence increases the oxygen supply to cells.
- Dancing improves your flexibility.
- Dancing helps in reducing cholesterol.
Tips To Remember
- Before starting to dance, do a warm up routine with a few stretches. This helps in the loosening up of muscles.
- Dance at the pace at which you feel comfortable. Don’t dance too fast as you may end up pulling your muscle.
- If you feel out of breath, relax for a few minutes before continuing.
- Start this routine with a duration of 10 minutes and gradually increase it day by day.
Caution: This is only for those people who enjoy dancing. If you have never tried out dancing, then try it out once. If you hate dancing, then this is not for you.
Golden Rule: Never force yourself into anything you are not comfortable with.
So let’s kick this off at this New Year’s party & have a blast!
